In accordance with Royal Decree 09/2013, Al Madakhel operates a maritime radio-communications network throughout the Sultanate of Oman. The shore-based network provides terrestrial and celestial GMDSS communications services covering Sea Areas A1, A2 and A3 of Oman’s territorial waters and beyond.
Additionally, we offer a coastal-wide Automatic Identification of Ships (AIS) system and a ground-based segment of COSPAS-SARSAT satellite GMDSS services for the reception and processing of distress alerts from emergency beacons (ELTs, EPIRBs and PLBs).
Vessel identification & tracking with the monitoring of automatic distress and urgency alerts is at the heart of what we do.
The network is managed from a dedicated Maritime Communications Operations Centre (MROC) in Muscat and manned by professionally qualified and experienced radio operations personnel who will also assist with the training and development of local staff. Through our infrastructure we can provide organizations with all maritime communications needs including the complete maritime picture of all Oman‘s coastal waters or selected areas through our national coastal wide AIS network.
